AOP's NEA award to support our training programs has been terminated. Like so many arts organizations, AOP needs your support more than ever.
What are AOP Training Programs?
AOP's Composers & the Voice is a two-year, tuition-free fellowship for composers and librettists that provides experience writing for the voice and opera stage
The AOP-NYU/Tisch Opera Lab is a collaboration between AOP and the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program and Department of Design for Stage and Film at NYU Tisch School of the Arts (led by Randall Eng and Sam Helfrich).
Your contribution goes directly to the development process of new works by emerging artists transitioning between university and professional careers - AOP brings new operas to life with public performances, free to the neighborhoods in which they are produced: Brooklyn Museum, Fort Greene Park, Hudson Guild, International House, Stonewall Inn, and in Spring 2025, Woodlawn Cemetery's famous Woolworth Chapel.
2025 is the 10th anniversary of the AOP-NYU/Tisch Opera Lab. 73 short operas have been written by 112 composers & librettists, with 51 singers, 27 stage directors & music directors, and 54 designers.
